Braiding Our Connections An Exhibition by Chad L. Yellowjohn
Thursday, June 5 · 5:00–7:00 PM · Poeh Tower Gallery · Free
More than an exhibition, this evening is a celebration of the ways we connect — through community, culture, storytelling, art, and one another.
Join us for the opening of Braiding Our Connections by artist Chad L. Yellowjohn at the Poeh Cultural Center, and experience a night woven together with creativity and Indigenous expression. A Shoshone- and Spokane-inspired artist and graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, Yellowjohn creates work he describes as “optimistic activism” — art that helps Indigenous people of all ages feel seen, included, and proud of who they are.
The evening will feature:
- A special hoop dance performance
- The first public unveiling of the 2026 Pathways Festival logo and artwork
- A screening of the Pathways Festival documentary
- Music by DJ Ill Audia
- Food by Shudine’s Fry Bread Stand
The Pathways Festival documentary was created by filmmakers Ashley Browning (Pueblo of Pojoaque) and Charine Gonzales (Pueblo of San Ildefonso) and features interviews with Jacob Shije, Ray Naranjo of Manko, Patricia Maestas, Clarence Cruz, Cris Velarde, Cheyenne Duran, Karl Duncan, and Cole Forrest.
Come gather, celebrate, and be part of an evening centered around connection, creativity, and community. This event is free and open to all — bring your relatives and friends.
